Color Field PreviewReady

Soft painterly color fields

A color field is atmosphere, not subject: soft overlapping washes that set a mood behind your content. This tool builds them from blurred organic shapes in three colors, layered to feel painterly rather than mechanical.

Set the number of layers, the blur and how far the shapes spread. It's seeded from your settings, so a look you like is reproducible — adjusting the blur won't reshuffle the whole composition.

Getting a good result

  1. Pick three colors that share a mood — analogous hues read calmest.
  2. Set the number of layers and the spread.
  3. Raise Blur for a softer, more atmospheric wash.
  4. Export SVG for a lightweight, scalable background.

What it's good for

  • calm web and app backgrounds
  • cover and presentation backdrops
  • brand mood and color exploration
  • social-post atmosphere

FAQ

Does tweaking blur move all the shapes around?

No — the composition is seeded from the structural settings, so adjusting blur or colors keeps the layout stable. That's deliberate, so you can fine-tune without starting over.

How is this different from the Mesh Gradient?

Mesh gradient melts colors into one smooth wash; color field keeps softer, more separate painterly shapes. Different texture, similar calm purpose.

Why SVG for a background?

It stays sharp at any size and weighs very little, which is ideal for a full-page or hero background.
