Faceted low-poly art that follows the face
Good low-poly art isn't a uniform triangle grid — the triangles cluster tight along edges and shadow lines and open up across flat areas, so the mesh actually describes the form. This tool does that properly: it detects the image's edges, places vertices along those contours, and triangulates them.
The result is a faceted portrait where the triangle edges run with the jaw, the eyes and the light. Control facet size for overall density and point jitter for how irregular the mesh feels; each facet is filled with the average color of the area it covers.

Why do the triangles cluster around the eyes and edges?
Because vertices are placed along detected edges, the mesh is dense where there's detail and sparse where it's flat — that's what makes it read as a sculpted face rather than a uniform mosaic.
My result looks chaotic — what do I change?
Lower the Point jitter. High jitter randomizes vertices and weakens the structure; keeping it low lets the triangles follow the contours of the face.
Higher contrast images — better or worse?
Better. Clear light and shadow give the edge detector strong contours to place vertices on, so the facets describe the form more cleanly.
